That Yahoo BOSS thing sounds like an interesting way to try out ranking algorithms. There are already a couple of heavy players with complex semantic graph models, but that’s more related to the problem of improperly specified searches — like when you don’t know what to search for and ask google a question or something.

Maybe this is something where that idea I had about information entropy as a whuffie model fits. Probably vastly improved by someone with actual skills.
